Kyle Laughlin
Junior Instructor
Kyle, son of Presidents Craig and Linda Laughlin, and long-time NHDP participant, will be joining the group of professional instructors for the summer of 2011. He played locally while in high school for the Severn Admirals, setting records in every category and Captaining his team to a B-Division championship his Senior season. Following his high school career, Kyle played several seasons in the NAHL and USHL Junior A leagues.
After his final season of Junior, he entered his Freshman year of college at Division 1 Hockey East Providence College, where he led all Freshmen in scoring and won the team’s “Unsung Hero” and “Team Academic Award”, an award he would continue to collect for the next three years. Additionally, Kyle was named Captain of his team for his Junior and Senior season. As a Senior, he collected many more accolades: “Distinguished Scholar-Athlete”; the Providence College award for Character and Leadership; and was a finalist for the National “Hockey Humanitarian” award. He finished his college career with 44 points in 125 games, and graduated with a degree in Philosophy.
Following college, Kyle began playing professionally in the ECHL and IHL, playing for the Reading Royals, Johnstown Chiefs, and Bloomington Prairie Thunder. He just finished his second year of professional playing for the Huntsville Havoc in the SPHL.
Kyle currently is in charge of on-ice development through private lessons at NHDP. Also, he aids in the conduction of Life Skills Seminars and can provide SAT prep help to participants.
